A terminal connector (Figs. 1, 2) comprises a plate 2 having an aperture 18, to receive a wire, and a rotatable clamp member 6, 7 with its head portion 7 having a notch 21 which can be aligned with aperture 18, also to receive the wire, the plate 2 or head portion 7 having suitably arranged surfaces between which the wire is clamped by rotation of tne clamp 6, 7. The primary clamping surface is, in one embodiment, that of a tongue 16, which may be spiralled clockwise or anti-clockwise, and is integral with the plate 2, which is itself integral with the contact blade 5. The shank 6 fits snugly into an aperture 17 in the plate 2 and has a foot portion 8 which holds a cup-shaped member 9 against the underside of the plate. The cup 9 acts as a wire stop and permits the entry of only a given length of the stripped wire 23. In a connector for two wires (Fig. 3, not shown) the plate and portion 7 each have two wire-receiving apertures and the plate two spiral tongues. The bared ends of two or more wires may be twisted together for insertion into a single aperture. A modified construction of the plate 2 (Fig. 1B, not shown) obviates the need for the cup 9, the spiral surfaee being cutout of the surface of a thicker plate 2a. In another embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown), the spiral surface is formed on the underside of the clamp flange 7, the plate 2 having no tongue 16. |
