<p>A battery powered portable crimping apparatus (10) is provided for crimping a terminal (T) onto a wire. The crimping mechanism imposes a substantially constant torque on the electric motor (18) during the crimping cycle thereby conserving battery energy. A pair of anvil-die sets (34,36,38,40) are provided for crimping two different size terminals. The two dies (38,40) are arranged to reduce the hazard of inadvertently inserting a foreign object into one of the anvil-die set openings while the other anvil-die set is engaged in crimping a terminal.</p> |
