PURPOSE: To obtain a solder alloy capable of achieving the highly durable hard brazing of ceramics, metals, graphite, etc., by specifying a composition consisting of Co, Fe and Zr and by making the solder alloy have an amorphous or partly amorphous structure. CONSTITUTION: An amorphous or partly amorphous alloy has a composition consisting of, by atom, 30-60%, preferably, 35-55% Co, 30-60%, preferably, 35-50% Fe, 10-40%, preferably, 25-35% Zr and is suitable for use of a solder foil of 20-120μm in thickness. The solder foil is used for achieving the hard brazing ceramics including Al2 O3 , ZrO2 , MgO and SiC, metals including T, Zr, Hf, Ni and Fe and graphite between the same kinds of groups or the different kinds of groups to obtain an extremely durable joining. The alloy is obtained by rapidly cooling the molten alloy of the prescribed composition by the melt- spinning method, etc., at the cooling speed of at least approximately 10<5> deg.C/sec, and shows the excellent ductility and uniformity of an amorphous or partly amorphous structure.
