A recording material is described comprising an electron donating colorless dye, an electron accepting compound, and at least one compound represented by formula (I), (II), or (III) Ar1O-R-SAr2 (I) ArlS-R-SAr2 (II) ArlS-R-X-Ar2 (III) wherein Ar1 and Ar2 each represents a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group or a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic ring, R is a divalent group containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and X represents -COO- group or group.
