A control signal applied to a terminal selectively switches the checking circuit into an operation or checking mode. In the checking mode, a test signal is applied to one terminal of a circuit which checks a group of signal transfer bonding pairs. A second circuit checks a second group of bonding pairs which transfer signals in the opposite direction from the upper to the lower chip. A multiple input logic gate on the upper chip has input terminals connected to several electrodes respectively and an output terminal connected to at least one of the connections.
