PURPOSE:To limit a large current such as a short circuit current by arranging a superconductor with the preset critical current at least on one electrode. CONSTITUTION:A superconductor layer 8 is arranged at least on one of electrodes of a battery having both a positive electrode and a negative electrode and a chemical reaction layer inserted between them, e.g., the negative electrode 2, and it is connected to a current collecting plate 6. This superconductor has the critical current larger than the ordinary operating current of the battery and smaller than the short circuit current, it is made of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O or La- Sr-Nb-O having superconductivity at the room temperature, for example. A large current such as a short circuit current is limited, thereby the safety and a long life of the battery can be obtained. |
