PURPOSE:To accomplish simple, secure prevention of the natural coloring matter in foods from color fading by putting a food into a gas-permeable container or packaging material and furthermore by sealing with a virtually gas- impermeable packaging material in combination with a deoxygenating agent. CONSTITUTION:A food containing natural coloring matter or colored with natural colorant (e.g. orange yellow, cochineal coloring matter) is put into a gas-permeable container or packaging material (e.g. polyethylene bag) followed by, furthermore, sealing with a virtually gas-impermeable packaging material in combination with a deoxygenating agent. The resultant packed foods, even if exposed to direct sunlight, will develop no color fading with time of the natural coloring matter contained. |
