1,025,739. Automatic lathes. A. BECHLER. June 19, 1964 [July 2, 1963], No. 25487/64. Heading B3T. An automatic lathe comprises a fixed support 1, a work spindle A, a member 6 pivotable on support 1, at 7, tool-holders 17 and 8 carried on member 6, and tool slides 2, 3 mounted on support 1, the tools being moved relative to the work by cams 10, 11 etc. on a cam shaft 12. Tools 15 and 16 are moved into and out of their cutting positions by slide 2 during its movement relative to the work. Each of the slides 2, 3 is actuated by cam shaft 12 through a push rod 19, rocking lever 20 and a micrometer 21. Holder 17 is pivoted to member 6 at 22 and has a screw 25 biased against a lug 6a of the member by a spring 23, to position tool 16 in its working position. A tool change-over movement of holder 17 to bring tool 15 into cutting position is provided during sliding of slide 2 when a lug 2a on the slide pivots a two-armed lever 26 about a pin 28 mounted on member 6. In a modification member 6 is replaced by a slide 106, Fig. 6 (not shown). |
