<p>PURPOSE: To easily form a virtual circuit by providing a conversion memory in which an address code can be converted in a connection switch. CONSTITUTION: A conversion memory 9 replaces the address field of a packet with an information word indicating a new virtual circuit identifier VCI value or an empty packet code. This information word is written in the conversion memory 9 under the control of a central control unit 4. When this information code is matched with the empty packet code, writing in a queue memory 12 is inhibited, and the packet is not switched to second buses 16 and 17. On the other hand when a comparator 10 detects that the information word is not matched with the empty packet code, a packet having a new VCI value and a related data field is written in the memory 12, and inserted into the second buses 16 and 17.</p> |
