An appliance to fold trays, characterized in that it consists firstly of a die (20) comprising several series of formation ramps (29, 30, 32) bounding a horizontal opening, vertically displaced from one another and located longitudinally and transversely relatively to the blank (2) from which the tray is produced, and arranged in the position of the groove lines exhibited by the blank, and secondly of a punch (22) comprising two parallel heels (36) located symmetrically in relation to a transverse median plane of the blank, this punch being associated with means enabling it to be displaced vertically, and the heels (36) being displaceable relatively to one another between a separated position and the external edges of the heels are situated at a distance from one another corresponding to the internal length of the tray and an approaching position in which the external edges of the heels are situated at a distance from one another less than the internal length of the tray, the means of operating the punch being so arranged that when the blank is fed in the punch is located above the ramps (29, 30, 32) and then after the blank has been positioned the punch is displaceable vertically downwards, the heels (36) being in the separated position, so as to move the blank in contact with the ramps that ensure its folding, then to maintain the punch in this position for the time required for the glue to set, and finally to draw the heels together and to displace the punch upwards. |
