The present invention relates to a process for producing N-alkyl-N'-phenylparaphenylenediamines. More particularly it relates to a process for the preparation of N-alkyl-N'-phenylparaphenylenediamine by condensation of 4-hydroxydiphenylamine with a linear or branched aliphatic amine, characterised in that the reaction is carried out in a liquid medium and in the presence of an effective amount of a silver derivative. N-Alkyl-N'-phenylparaphenylenediamines are efficient anti-ozonising agents used in vulcanised materials based on natural rubbers or synthetic elastomers.
