PURPOSE: To provide a cathode which is capable of efficiently implanting electrons, and which is stable by composing the cathode of a layer including plural sorts of metal other than alkaline metal, and specifying a work function of at least one sort of the metal. CONSTITUTION: An anode 102 is separated from a cathode 104 by an organic light emitting medium 106, and it is connected to an external power source 108 by conductors 102, 112. The cathode 104 comprises plural sorts of metal other than alkaline metal, and at least one sort of the metal has a work function of less than 4eV. Electrons 116 to be implanted into an electron transport layer to provide an organic light emitting zone of a device can thus be easily emitted, and a higher cathode stability can be obtained, thereby efficient light emission can be achieved. |
