The present invention relates to a process permitting the eradication of insect pests of plants such as cereals, vegetables or any plants for food use. It comprises a new type of product used by the process. It also makes it possible to accelerate the growth of the plants, in particular when the latter are initially affected by disease. The invention is of great interest in acting without danger for the lives of animals which feed on the treated plants or insects which are the subject of the treatment. The product used by the process which is the subject of the present patent consists of a solution in water of alkali metal salts of fatty acids at a concentration close to 1%, glycerine in an amount of 0.1% and, optionally and for specific applications, essential extracts of the perfume base type, and pyrethrins. The application of this product is carried out by spraying a 1.5% solution of the product. The concentration of this solution may vary according to the applications.
