PURPOSE:To eliminate peeling and abrasion of a coat film by forming the coat layer composed essentially of a graft copolymer of an ionomer specified in composition and styrene. CONSTITUTION:The coat layer to be used for the carrier for a electrophotographic developer is composed essentially of the graft copolymer of styrene and the ionomer represented by formula I in which each of m and an is a positive integer; R is H or CH3; M<+> is one of Na<+>, Li<+>, Zn<2+>, Mg<2+>, and Cu<2+>, and an ionomer to styrene weight ratio is, preferably, controlled in the range of 50:50-99:1, thus permitting the obtained coat layer to be strong in the adhesion to a carrier core material, improved in its mechanical strength by the ion cross-linking, and prevented almost from peeling and abrasion. |
