PURPOSE:To improve radiation resistance of multiple fiber by specifying content of chlorine, OH and fluorine in a quartz glass core in the structure aggregating a number of optical fibers having doped quartz clad layer on the quartz glass core. CONSTITUTION:The aimed radiation-resistant multiple fiber 1 formed by mutually fusing and aggregating a number of optical fibers 1'. The optical fiber 1' has doped quartz glass clad layer 3 on a pure quartz glass core 2. The above- mentioned core 2 contains <=1ppm chlorine, <=1000ppm OH and >=100ppm fluorine. |
