Elastic shaft/hub connection secure against twisting

In order to obtain a lightweight shaft/hub connection which allows relative displacement under axial force, is secure against twisting and is slightly elastic, the shaft or hub of a splined connection is coated in the region of the connection with a flexible layer, to which in turn a metallic covering is applied. The hub or the shaft as the basic elements, on the one hand, and the metallic covering, on the other hand, are each connected permanently to the flexible layer. A splined connection of this kind is easy to assemble despite the elasticity imparted to it by the flexible layer, since only metal surfaces have to be brought into contact with one another. The flexible interlayer in the shaft/hub connection effects decoupling of vibration and noise and permits relatively small angular misalignments between the shaft and the hub.
