OPTICAL FIBER TYPE FABRI-PEROT RESONATOR

PURPOSE:To realize the low-loss optical fiber type Fabri-Perot resonator to which an external optical fiber is connected by forming two grooves in an optical fiber fixed to a substrate at a specific intervals perpendicularly to the fiber axis and inserting multi-layered reflecting mirrors in the grooves. CONSTITUTION:The part (as long as a long groove 11) of the optical fiber 12 where its coating 12c is removed is inserted into the long groove 11 formed previously in the projection part 10a of the substrate 10 and fixed with an epoxy-based adhesive EA. Then a special dicing device to form the two grooves 13a and 13b at right angles to the fiber axis while rotating a thin sapphire blade at a high speed and blowing abrasive grains to the substrate. The multi- layered reflecting mirrors 14a and 14b are inserted into those grooves while having their reflecting surfaces opposite each other and fixed with an epoxy- based adhesive EA to connect the optical fiber of the optical fiber type Fabri- Perot resonator to the external optical fiber with high accuracy.
