Olefin dimerisation catalysts, at least partially deactivated and containing chlorine and nickel deposited on alumina, are regenerated by the following successive treatments: a) drying at a temperature of between 5 and 70 DEG C, b) heating in a nonreductive atmosphere at a temperature of between 300 and 800 DEG C, c) heating in an oxidising and chlorinating atmosphere at a temperature of between 25 and 750 DEG C, d) heating in a nonreductive atmosphere at a temperature of between 300 and 800 DEG C, e) optional cooling to room temperature. |
