PURPOSE:To eliminate noise effectively and to improve the picture quality by applying smoothing filter processing to yellow, magenta, cyan (Y, M, C) signals only prior to the UCR(under color rejection) processing and applying different filter processing from a Bk(black) signal and the Y, M, C signals after the UCR processing. CONSTITUTION:Filter processing circuits 5-7 are provided before and after the UCR processing circuit 4 extracting an equal quantity of Y, M, C signals as a Bk signal and only the 3 color Y, M, C signals among the output Y, M, C, Bk signals of the UCR processing circuit 4 are inputted to the 2nd smoothing circuit 6, and the Bk signal is inputted to an edge emphasis circuit 7. Moreover, a noise component in the signal is made flat at first by the 1st smoothing circuit 5 and the Bk signal is extracted by the UCR processing circuit 4. Thus, the Bk signal with much character part is subject to edge emphasis or as it is and since smoothing processing is applied to the Y, M, C color signal, the character part is made sharp and smooth tone is obtained from a color demodulation section and the the picture quality is improved. |
