PURPOSE:To prevent any shake-back phenomenon from occurring by making damping in a shock absorber alterable to the hard side from a normal mode according to car speed or the like, and at the time of returning to the normal mode from the hard side, performing it as holding the damping force stepwise as long as the specified time. CONSTITUTION:A piston rod 4 being supported to the body side is inserted into an inner cylinder 3 in a base shell 2 whose lower end is supported on an unsprining member of an axle or the like, while a rotary valve 7 being rotated and driven by a control rod 6 is installed in this piston rod 4, thereby constituting a damping force variable type shock absorber. Controlling the rotary valve 7 for its rotation and drive according to car speed, breaking and handle operation, damping force is made alterable to the hard side from a normal mode. At the time of returning to the normal mode from the hard side, the rotary valve 7 is operated stepwise, returning it as holding it as long as the specified time. Consequently, any shake-back phenomenon due to a sudden return is effectively preventable. |
