PURPOSE: To obtain a nonwoven elastomeric web which comprises thermoplastic elastmeric melt-blown small diameter fibers, has a specified tensile strength and recovering power after stretching, does not limit the motion of the skin, exhibits a moderate degree of stretching and contraction and is useful as a bandaging material, etc. CONSTITUTION: The objective nonwoven elastomeric web comprises thermoplastic elastomeric melt-blown small diameter fibers having <50 μm diameter (e.g. elastic polyurethane fibers). The small diameter fibers are randomly arrayed and bonded at points of contact. The tensile strength of the web in the direction of web formation is not greater than about 2.5 times the tensile strength of the web in a direction perpendicular to the direction of web formation and the web recovers 85% in the vertical direction after being stretched 50%. When a pressure-sensitive adhesive or self-adhering coating is formed on the web, a adhesive wound dressing or an elastomeric bandaging material is obtained. |
