A low-sodium alumina powder is produced by adding 0.1-3% ALN powder to aluminium hydroxide or alumina, calcinating the mixture at 800- 1400 ≦̸C in low-oxidation, neutrality or deoxidation atmosphere, and forming aluminium oxide as nonstoichiometric oxigen deficiency. The powder has a good heat-resistance, abrasionresistance and electric insulation.
