A working method for the further processing of rolled bars which are continuously supplied by a rolling train and are deposited on cooling beds 1. From these, they are transferred to lateral roller tables 2, collected into groups and straightened in a single pass through a multi-strand straightening machine 4. After passing through the straightening machine 4, the rolled bars are cut jointly to predetermined lengths by successive cuts with a cutting device 5 and conveyed onwards. The feed motion of the rolled bars through the straightening machine 4 is interrupted when the lengths of rolled bar which have emerged from it reach a cutting position in the cutting device 5. The cutting of the predetermined lengths of rolled bar is then carried out with the rolled bars stationary and the feed motion of the remainders of the rolled bars in the straightening machine 4 is then continued to bring the subsequent lengths of rolled bar into the cutting position. <IMAGE>
