In a position measuring device (1) in accordance with Figure 1, an inner housing (2) and an outer housing (9) are provided. The coefficients of thermal conductivity of the materials of the two housings (2, 9) are very different. With decreasing ambient temperature, the outer housing (9) cools more quickly on the basis of its better thermal conductivity than the inner housing (2), which is not such a good conductor, with the result that the moisture is precipitated in a non-deleterious way on the inner surfaces of the outer housing (9). <IMAGE>
