PURPOSE:To obtain a printed output to a large-sized picture by setting an enlarging/reducing ratio lower than a specific value when the enlarging/reducing ratio exceeds the specific value and storing a picture enlarged/reduced by means of an enlarging/reducing means in a storing means. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 34 confirms the size of a picture retrieved from an optical disk 20 from the size of the original given to retrieval information and, at the same time, decides the enlarging/reducing ratio of the picture after confirming the printing size of the picture from a scanner device 18. The CPU 34 then performs an enlarging/reducing process on the picture in a page memory 40 by means of an enlargement/reduction circuit 46 and again stores the picture in the memory 40 when the enlarging/reducing ratio is not within a prescribed range. Thereafter, the reduced picture stored in the memory 40 is outputted to a printer device 27 after the picture is enlarged/reduced by means of the circuit 46. Thus the printing output of a large-sized picture can be obtained when the picture is outputted for printing. |
