PURPOSE: To increase light outputs by allowing display cells to have the patters of dichroic mirrors while being aligned with picture elements, and allowing one part of optical spectrums to pass through the mirrors according to the positions in the patterns, and reflecting the other parts. CONSTITUTION: A liquid cell 14 arranged between a polarizer 18 and a light detector 19 is divided into picture elements 20, the picture elements are aligned, and the patterns of dichroic mirrors 31-33 and color filters 34, if necessary, are provided. The lights of red, green and blue are allowed to pass through the dichroic mirrors 31-33, the other lights are reflected, and the reflected lights are allowed to pass through the polarizer 18 and a diffuser 43, and reflected by a reflection surface 45, and the result contributes to transmitssivity again. Thus, light outputs of all the devices each is increased. |
