PURPOSE:To obtain the bright and smooth display which is not affected by varying the opening rate of at least one of transparent substrates in such a manner as to condense incident light to the inside of display picture elements and delta-arranging the center of display unit regions. CONSTITUTION:At least one transparent 2a of a pair of the transparent substrates 2a, 2b facing each other is provided with optical means 6a, 6b, 7a, 7b formed for each of the display unit regions in a monolithic state. Namely, the display device is constituted by partially varying the refractive indices so as to condense the incident light P to the inside of the display picture elements in accordance with the positions of the respective display unit regions and the central parts of the display unit regions are made to delta-arranging. The deterioration of the display characteristics by irradiation of switching elements etc., with light of high intensity is, therefore, prevented. The incident light P is thus utilized for the display without being much affected by the change in the opening rate and the bright image is obtd. The image is smoothed by the regions varied partially in the refractive index. |
