PURPOSE: To easily and rapidly adjust the curvature at the front end of a catheter in a patient and to enable plural cardioangiography and angiography with the least possible number of exchange times of the catheter by providing the catheter assembly with the catheter having a front end formed to a prescribed curvilinear shape and a specific sheath. CONSTITUTION: The front end 14 of the catheter 10 is fomred to exhibit the prescribed curvature; for example, this front end comprises a first curve 18 of left Judkins and second curve 20. The catheter 10 extends through the sheath 28. The sheath 28 is shorter several centimeters than the catheter by at least a value longer than the length of the bent front end of the catheter. The curvilinear shape at the front end of the catheter is changed by advancing the sheath on the catheter. The sheath has rigidity to the extent that the bend of the catheter is straightened and the bend may be gradually changed at the time of the sheath advance on the catheter. |
