PURPOSE: To decrease as much as possible the amount of light shut out and absorbed by an exciting coil by arranging at least one turn lead wire having the outer surface and a reflecting layer formed on the outer surface of the lead wire with a specific material having large reflection coefficient. CONSTITUTION: At least one turn lead wire 14 arranged on the outside of a cylindrical space in which high intensity discharge plasma is excited and at least one layer 18 formed on the outer surface of the lead wire 14 with a material having a visible light reflecting coefficient larger than about 0.85, preferably near as much as possible to 1 are arranged. A mirror reflection surface or diffusion reflection surface is obtained by forming at least one layer 18 made of the material having large reflecting coefficient on the outer surface of the exciting coil 14 for an electrodeless high intensity discharge(HID) lamp. Most light emitted by plasma discharge is utilized without being shut off by the coil itself. |
