PURPOSE:To form a cyan image having high sensitivity and high concn. by incorporating a phenolic cyan coupler having respectively specific groups in the 2nd position and 5th position into the above material. CONSTITUTION:This material contains the phenolic cyan coupler having the group expressed by formula I in the 2nd position and the group expressed by formula II in the 5th position. In formula, R1 denotes an alkyl group, aryl group or heterocyclic group; R2 denotes an alkylene group; R3 denotes a substituent; (n) denotes 1-4 integer; X denotes a hydrogen atom or a group which can be eliminated by coupling reaction with the oxidant of a color developing agent; respective R3 may be the same as or different from each other if (n) is 2-4. The amt. of this cyan coupler to be added is usually 1.0X10<-3>-1.0mol, more preferably 5X10<-3>-8X10<-1>mol per 1mol silver halide.
