A security item such as a badge comprises a piece of information (e.g. a photograph of an individual) displayed both as an object (14) and as an identical holographic image (14') within a common visual field, there being parallax between the information in its object form (14) and the observed holographic image (14'). In order to produce the security item, the piece of information is placed a distance behind a holographic film (13) during exposure, the developed film (13) and the piece of information (14) itself are bonded to a common substrate (20), and the assembly is encapsulated within a plastics holder (H). |
