PURPOSE:To reduce costs, to simplify an assembling operation, and to prevent the erasing omission of recording information by composing a light source of a single multispot type semiconductor laser, and preventing a recording layer from interposing between adjacent tracks in an optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The light source is composed of a single multispot type semiconductor laser 1. An optical recording medium 4 is composed of a substrate 40 and plural track groups 42, whose width dimension a is set at approximately the same or below as the half value width of a convergent optical spot from the multispot type semiconductor laser 1, formed on a belt-shaped recording layer 41 with an interval at least on one surface of the substrate 40, and the recording layer 41 is prevented from existing between the mutually adjacent tracks 42. Thus, even when the diameters of the recording beam spot and the erasing beam spot are the same, the erasing omission of the recording information caused by tracking dislocation, etc., can be prevented, and assembling operability can be improved, and the costs can be reduced. |
