Process for producing a butene-1 polymer. To produce a butene-1 polymer or a copolymer of butene-1 and an olefin, one starts with an organic aluminium compound (b) and an electron donor compound (c) in the presence of a solid catalyst (a), under vapour phase polymerization conditions, in a temperature range between 45 and 70 degree C. The solid catalyst (a) is a component which does not form layers which is obtained by preparing a vehicle by chlorination of organic magnesium compounds with the formula MgR'R", which can be the same or different, represent alkyl groups with 1 to 20 carbon atoms, with at least one type of chlorination agent. This vehicle is brought into contact with the electron donor (c), with a titanium halide between -25 and 80 degree C. The electron donor compound (c) is a heterocyclic compound. <IMAGE>
