PURPOSE:To ensure the safety of traveling in the captioned device in which a CPU checks a memory, etc. at the time of power ON and after that, carries out the control of each portion by skipping this check when a cooling water temperature is above a defined value at the time of the power ON of the CPU. CONSTITUTION:As an ignition switch 1 is turned on at the time of starting, first, a CPU 2 reads the output of a comparator 4 for comparing the output voltage of a water temperature gauge 5 with a defined reference voltage 6 via a port P1. At the time of a cold engine with the output of the comparator 4 being H, the CPU performs initial setting after carrying out a ROM check, a RAM check, and a timer check and controls each portion of an automobile. On the other hand, even when power feeding to the CPU 2 is momentarily turned off during traveling, it is checked whether the port P1 is H or not. At this time, however, when the cooling water temperature is above a defined value with the port P1 being L, the system check is skipped and the control of each portion of the automobile is carried out. |
