PURPOSE:To easily manufacture a hollow member without deteriorating shape memory characteristics by subjecting a rod or wire to punching by means of electric discharge machining or wire cut electric discharge machining. CONSTITUTION:A rod or wire of shape memory alloy is cut into the desired length. Then, punching is applied to the above material by means of electric discharge machining or wire cut electric discharge machining. A heat-affected zone formed by working is removed by means of chemical treatment or machining. By this method, the hollow member of shape memory alloy can be manufactured in a short time. Further, shape memory treatment is generally carried out after punching. |
