PURPOSE: To facilitate a test to examine and guarantee the quality of a product by installing a means which is included permanently in the product, does not contribute to actual operation of functions, and gives a course of light energy. CONSTITUTION: Photodetectors 151-153 are installed in order to provide testing capability during, for example manufacture, or provide functions. In other words, active examination of light rays transmitted through respective waveguide routes 131-133 can be carried out in important stages in the middle of manufacture. For example, to carry out an examination of detecting light rays coming through the waveguide routes 131-133 after photodetectors 121-123 are arranged in a substrate 11, light rays are transmitted to the waveguide routes 131-133 toward respective detectors 121-123. At that time, in the case light rays are detected by the detector 151 but no indication is given that the light rays reached the detector 121, it can be conclued either that the detector 121 has a defect or that the detector 121 is not properly aligned with the waveguide route 131. |
