PURPOSE:To change over a speed without brining about vibration after the finish of midway acceleration/deceleration by controlling a printing speed on the basis of the midway acceleration/deceleration data corresponding to a preset midway acceleration/deceleration curve. CONSTITUTION:Since the area Si of a triangle is area=acceleration distance, the acceleration distances of respective speed control curves C1-C4 become equal at the time of S1=S2=S3=S4. The midway acceleration/deceleration curve at a time when a printing speed is changed over from the first speed to the second speed is set to Ca to provide the corresponding midway acceleration/deceleration data. In this case, the midway acceleration/deceleration curve Ca is set so that the acceleration distance reaching a printing speed 4 (max. printing speed) from a printing speed 1 (min. printing speed) becomes same to or more than the acceleration distance S1 until reaching a predetermined speed from a stop time and the inclination thereof becomes as small as possible.
