Filter for cleaning of steel, comprising a ceramic container 7 in which is enclosed a filter mass 9,10 in the form of a fireproof material having a chosen particle size fraction. This filter mass acts as a filter for inclusions in the steel. The container is provided on the inlet and outlet side with perforated ceramic plates 7 or similar which permits passage of the steel without the filter mass 9, 10 being forced out.
