The anchor comprises an anchoring portion (5) inserted in a drill hole, and a head (2). The anchoring portion is of wire rope, whose core, ending short of the head, is formed by a rigid metal bar. The area (8) between the bar end and the head is flexible. The head can be formed by a loop of rope containing a thimble (3), the rope end being gripped by a mechanical splice. USE/ADVANTAGE - Partic. for securing snow-arrester nets or rockfall-protection walls in solid or loose rock. Sustains loads not acting in the lengthwise direction of a drill hole.
