PURPOSE:To produce a novel metal oxide material exhibiting superconductivity at a temp. above the b.p. of liquefied helium by incorporating specified amts. of lanthanoid element and yttrium into a metal oxide material having specified contents of bismuth, an alkaline-earth metal, copper, and oxygen. CONSTITUTION:At least one kind of element selected from the lanthanoid elements and yttrium (expressed Ln hereunder) is incorporated into a metal oxide material consisting of bismuth, an alkaline-earth metal (expressed A hereunder), a copper and an oxygen to prepare a metal oxide expressed by LnxBiyAzCuOdelta. In the formula, 0.01<=x<=0.5, 0.5<=y<=3, 0.5<=z<=3 and 3<=delta. The Ln is selected from Y, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, La, Er and Ce, and A is selected from Ca, Ba and Sr. By this method, a novel metallic compd. exhibiting superconductivity at a temp. above the b.p. (4.2K) of a liquefied helium or preferably at >= about 20K is obtained. |
