PURPOSE: To treat osteoporosis by administering a progestin whose 19th position is unsubstituted by a continuous method, and as necessary, in the presence of estrogen. CONSTITUTION: A progestin whose 19th position is unsubstituted, e.g. allyl estrenol, demegestone, ethynodiol diacetate, gestonorone caproate, dl- or levo- norgestrel is administered for a period exceeding 25 days per month, especially substantially every day, as necessary in the presence of estrogen (e.g. estriol or 17-β-estradiol) to treat osteoporosis. The progestin and estrogen are administered in a daily dose of 10μg to 10mg in the case of oral administration.
