PURPOSE:To produce a fiber reinforced ceramic molded body wherein generation of breakage and crack is prevented by preparing ceramic slurry in which fibrous ceramic is uniformly dispersed and molding it with a mold having a prescribed shape, dehydrating and drying the molded body. CONSTITUTION:In the case of a silicon nitride-series ceramic molded body ae an example, slurry having about 40-60vol.% concn. is prepared by uniformly dispersing a mixture of >=50wt.% Si3N4 powder (about 0.01-3mum mean particle diameter) and <=50wt.% (Al2O3+Y2O3) in which fibrous Al2O3 is about 0.1-30wt.% and powdery Y2O3 is about 0. 1-50wt.% in water or NH4OH. Further fibrous Al2O3 is regulated to about <=10mum mean diameter and to about 10-500mum fiber length. Then this slurry is cast into a mold made of gypsum, etc., and dehydrated and thereafter the molded body is released from the mold and sufficiently dried and sintered as the molded body free from breakage and crack. Thereby the ceramic molded body improved in mechanical strength, elongation and resistance to strain is obtained. |
