Pivoting seat for motor vehicles consisting of a cushion support 5 mounted so that it can pivot about a substantially vertical axis 4 supported by a plinth 7 and including means for blocking the said cushion support 5 with respect to the said plinth, characterised in that the support 5 includes an outer lateral stop 22 and at least inner lateral blocking means, the stop of which interacts with the door of the vehicle in the closed position and makes sure that the blocking means 23, 24, 25 are engaged with the similar means 10, 11, 12 carried by the plinth 7. <IMAGE>
