Device for adjusting the relative position of one or more bars, for example lay bars, in relation to the needle bar of a warp-knitting machine, in which the bars are racked according to pattern by means of racking elements, for example mirror discs, chain links or the like. A regulating element provided with a heating or cooling element and having a length variable as a result of temperature variation is inserted respectively between a racking element and the particular bar, the heating or cooling element being controllable in such a way that the change in length of the regulating element caused thereby displaces each bar into the desired position in relation to the needle bar.
