A projection copier device (printer) for producing photographic copies (prints), having a film gate (film trap) for receiving a film original, a light source illuminating the film original, an exposure station in which an image of the film original is projected onto photographic paper or the like by means of an enlarger lens, and having a device for detecting photographic image information of the film original, this device having a line sensor arranged outside the beam path of the lens, is constructed in such a manner that a mirror (14) is arranged between enlarger lens (5) and exposure station (4) or can be pivoted in between, in that the film gate (3) can be rotated about 90@ in its plane so that in the case of a selected enlargement an image (1a) of the film original (1) is imaged with its longitudinal side in the longitudinal direction (7) of the photographic paper (2) and in the case of another selected enlargement is imaged in the transverse direction of the photographic paper (2) on said paper, and in that the line sensor (12) can be also pivoted about 90@ when the film gate (3) is rotated. The result is that one line sensor can be used for mutually perpendicular transport directions of the film original or, connected therewith, for different enlargements of the images of the film original. <IMAGE>
