Electricity, discharging from paper, fabrics, and the like. - Sheets or films of compositions containing esters or ethers of cellulose, such as cellulose acetate, are passed, after leaving the surface on which they are formed, through a space maintained charged with water-vapour at a raised temperature, thereby removing, any electric charge from the surface. Fig. 1 shows an extended hood 13 within which are guide-rollers 14 for the sheet or film 11, coming from an endless band on rollers 10. Steam is supplied to the hood through pipes 17. Tensioning rollers 16 may be provided or the film may be otherwise tensioned. The hood may be replaced by a chamber having rollers at the top and bottom over and under which the film is passed or by a tunnel to which moistened air is supplied by means of fans. |
