PURPOSE:To produce an embossed roll with excellent working efficiency by forming a plating layer made of soft metal or a resin layer on the surface of a roll, carving a required pattern with a carving needle and thereafter performing etching treatment to remove the residual plating layer and the resin layer in the case of producing the embossed roll. CONSTITUTION:In the case of producing an embossed roll utilized for producing a metallic plate having an embossed pattern, a plating layer 2 made of soft metal such as Cu or a resin layer 2 is formed on the surface of the stock roll 1 for the embossed roll and the surface thereof is ground and worked to smooth the surface. Then while rotating the roll 1, the craters 8-10 having a required pattern are formed on the plating layer or the resin layer 2 with the carving needle 3 of a carving machine 4 which has a coil 6 vibrated by an electric signal sent from a controlling device 5. Then the roll surfaces of the crater parts are etched by etching liquid to form the embossed patterns 11-13 and thereafter the residual plating layer made of Cu or the resin layer is removed and the embossed roll is extremely easily produced with excellent working efficiency. |
