PURPOSE:To prevent previously incapability of reading printing caused by blur of printing, lack of printing, omission of printing, etc. by a method wherein a ribbon feed detection sensor is annexed to an inside of a ribbon cartridge. CONSTITUTION:A ribbon is fed by rotation of a feed roller 3 and ink is transferred to an idle roller 5 from an ink tank 7. Further, ink is supplemented to the ribbon 2. A mechanism for detecting a feed state of the ribbon is constructed by combining a detection roller 9 rotating linked with the idle roller 5, a slit part 9a established united with the detection roller 9, and a ribbon feed detection sensor 6 for detecting intermittent interruption of light by the slit part 9a of the detection roller 9 following feed of the ribbon. When the ribbon is not fed, the detection roller 9 is not rotated, and the ribbon feed detection sensor 6 is left in an ON state or in an OFF state as it is. This signal is transmitted to a printer body through a connector for ribbon feed detection sensor 8, and ribbon feed inferiority is ascertained. |
