PURPOSE: To protect a printed circuit by partly exposing a layer of a photo image-formative composition to patterning actinic rays and curing the residual part of the layer to form a hard permanent wax mask capable of protecting a printed circuit board. CONSTITUTION: In this method, a layer 20 of a photo image-formative composition, which is laminated on a printed circuit board 10 is partly exposed to patterning actinic rays through a topcoat 24. Then, either the exposed part or unexposed part of the layer 20 is removed by using a developer to retain the residual part of the layer 20 on the circuit board 10. Subsequently, the remaining part of the layer 20 on the circuit board 10 is cured with e.g. heat and/or ultraviolet rays to form a hard permanent wax mask. Thus, the printed circuit board 10 is protected. |
