When working with electrically driven hand screwing devices, it repeatedly occurs that a screwing cycle does not run correctly. This can be caused by a premature termination of the screwing operation, inadequate adhesion between screw and object to be screwed, an incorrect voltage supply or the like. Such a case is to be indicated promptly to the user in order to avoid any damage which might result. For this purpose, the hand screwing device is equipped with a circuit arrangement for monitoring the correct progress of the screwing operation, which is activated by the switch which can be actuated by the coupling and triggers an acoustic and/or visual warning signal in the event of a prematurely ended screwing operation, insufficient or no longer sufficient power for the drive motor and also inadequate adhesion between screw and object to be screwed (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
